Gabriel's visit to Mary

Luke 1:26 'The angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth', to inform Mary of her calling to be the mother of Jesus.

Matthew 3:19-23 "When Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel...And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene."

Mt. Moriah ×

(1) The mountain on which it is believed that Isaac was offered in sacrifice (Gen. 22:2); a tradition first recorded by the Jewish historian Josephus.

(2) Mount Moriah, the hill on which Solomon built the temple (2 Chr. 3:1).

(3) Site of Herod's temple, the temple at the time of Christ.

Zechariah visited by Gabriel telling him that he will have a son and to name him John. (Luke 1).


Jesus is presented at the Temple when 40 days old. Simeon and Anna the prophetess testify of Christ (Luke 2).


At 12 years old, his family comes to Jerusalem to keep the passover. Christ was teaching in the temple at 12 years old.


Jesus heals man on the sabbath. Jews seek his life because of this miracle. John 5:1-9

Site where Christ kept the passovers during his ministery. In proximity to the Temple Site and the Mt of Olives.

Capernaum ×

Mat 4:11-21 - After his baptism, Jesus fasted 40 days and was tempted by Satan. After this, he went up to Capernaum and began his ministry fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah, 'The people which sat in darkness saw great light. And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother' And he calls James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother.

Mark 1: 21-24 "And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught...And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God." Christ cast out the unclean spirit.


Christ heals Simon's wife's mother. (Mark 1:29-31)

Luke 1:39 - Zechariah and Elisabeth dwelt in "a city of Juda" — Probably Hebron, which belonged to the house of Aaron, and was situated in Judea, the mountains of which, running from south to north, gave the name of the hill-country to a part of it. It was about eighty miles distant from Nazareth the home of Mary.
